I seriously haven't updated my journal since I got back from California.
That's almost funny. ._.
So first off: sorry for the lack of journals and deviations. I've been so, soooo busy, it was hard even to just leave sparse comments here and there. What have I been up to? Lots of stuff. There were midterms, HSPAs, the SAT (got a 2000 with the essay, 1450 without, taking it a second time this Saturday), Valentine's Day, St. Patty's Day, Passover, the Deborah Heart-Art Contest (won first place and $100), Saturday classes at UArts, Jak X.. uhm, I think that that list covers most of the major stuff.
Important things about the future:
Let's start with my birthday, shall we? Since X-Men 3 comes out the day after my birthday, 'm having an X-Men birthday party. ^^ Because I can, bitchez. Nightcrawler rocks. >>;
Summer. Sadly, I will not be attending Anime NEXT or SIG this year. ;-; Instead, I will be spending five weeks in Savannah, Georgia attending the Savannah College of Art and Design's Rising Star summer program. I've already been accepted to the program and everything; I've just gotta send them my portfolio if I want a scholarship. Two cool things about this program: 1) one of the classes I'm taking is part of the standard foundation coursework, and should I attend SCAD for college, I won't have to take this class again. 2) Students who successfully complete the Rising Star program in 2006 are accepted to attend classes in Fall of 2007. So basically, if I don't royally screw up this summer, I'm already accepted into the college. (Both of these facts make it a real pity that the School of Visual Arts in New York is my first choice college, not SCAD. >>; )
Otakon. I. Seriously. Cannot. Wait. It's fonna be so funnnnnn!!! ^____^ Planning on cosplaying Mamimi from FLCL, along with Erin as Haruko and Owen as Naota. The latter, however, has proven to be VERY UNRELIABLE in the past, and I would not be surprised if we ended up just Mamimi and Haruko. Whatevs.
Obsessions:
Science Fiction Literature.
No, not the actual literature, Science Fiction Literature Class. I've been taking it since late January, and it is sooooo much fun. For one, all we do is watch movies (I, Robot, Minority Report, X-Men, Back to the Future, and Star Wars, to name a few). I mean, I honestly never thought I could do things like write essays on whether or not robots can have souls or who the coolest X-Man is for schoolwork. Hot, ne?
Speaking of X-Men.. I spent a while downloading all four seasons of X-Men: Evolution onto my computer, but it was worth it.
Doctor Who.
Yes, seriously, Doctor Who. The 2005 series which has been playing on the Sci-Fi channel. I am sooooo loving it. *dorkdorkdork* XD
"If you're an alien, how come you sound like you're from the north?"
"Lots of planets have a north."
Working on downloading old eps, starting with the ones from the 60s. (sad lil' anecdote: sometime in the 70s/80s, the BBC decided to toss a lot of its shows, including Doctor Who eps... some were recovered, and there are audio recordings for every episode, but sadly, the visuals for some are lost forever. ;-; )
Broadway.
Well, not actual Broadway, but I managed to see both Wicked and Spamalot in the recent past. Both were very good, though neither lived up to my expectations. All right, yes, Spamalot had me laughing so hard I thought my brains were gonna come out my ears. But compared to Monty Python history, it's only okay. Wicked, on the other hand, recieves a great deal less mercy, because they CHANGED THE FUCKIN ENDING. She's supposed to die, dammit! >< If I hadn't read the book first, though, the play would have been pretty good.
Ouran High School Host Club.
Think Fruits Basket meets Harry Potter, with a touch of Hana-Kimi on the side. Seriously funny series. Afraid I'll ruin it if I say too much more, but I am absolutely in love with the Hitachiin twins.
Violinist of Hameln.
Older anime, but still pretty good if you can overlook the fact that almost all the characters are named after instruments. XD (I mean, come on, where else can you pick up a book and say, "Oh look, here's the scene where Clarinet and Drum are fighting"?) But Hamel's super cool character, and I can even forgive him for liking Flute because he's such an ass to her in the manga. (he's angsty in the anime though, and that makes me sad. ._. )
Amityville Horror.
This one is the bad kind of obsession. I saw it for the first time last Saturday, and it's the first really scary movie I've ever seen. I DON'T DO WELL WITH SCARY MOVIES. AT ALL. I was seriously scared shitless, and I'm still trying to recover from it, telling myself that there aren't ghosts in the house or anything. >< I know, I know, I'm a big baby, it's just that.. I can deal with fear when it's real, because then there's something that you can do about it. But fear when it's imaginary, well... there's nothing that you can do except sit there and be scared. ;-; I'll get over this eventually, I hope.
Oh, wow, this was a fucken long journal entry, wasn't it?
Is all.
